What We Believe

Our Mission Statement

We exist to glorify God, nurture our membership, and reach out to our community with the gospel.

At Walton Hills Church of Christ we are convinced that theology matters, moreover that truth matters, and that having a strong grasp of both is essential for right living and for worship.  Therefore, we strive to honor God through teaching that is both based in the Bible and relevant to all brothers and sisters in Christ.

We believe in the trinity; God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
                                                       John 1:1-14, John 10:30, & John 14:15-18

We believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God. We believe He was born of a virgin, died for our sins, and arose bodily from the grave.
                                        Luke 1:26-38, Matthew 16:13-20, & Romans 14:9

We believe that the Bible is God's perfect Word, useful for teaching, correcting and training in righteousness.                                                                                                                                                  2 Timothy 3:16-17

We believe that the blood of Christ cleanes us from all sin.
                                                                                                        1 John 1:7-9

We believe that the Lord's Supper (Communion) is a memorial, and that it should be taken each week. The bread represents the Lord's body and the cup represents His blood.
                                                                        Matthew 26:26-29 & Acts 20:7

We believe that a person becomes a Christian by:
     1. Hearing the gospel of Jesus Christ
     2. Believing in Christ
     3. Repenting of their sins
     4. Confessing Christ openly
     5. Being baptized (by immersion) for the remission of sins.
                                             John 3:16, Acts 17:30, Romans 10:10 Acts 2:38

We believe in the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is the presence and power of God in our lives. We receive the Holy Spirit when we become a Christian. The Holy Spirit helps us to understand Scripture and live the Christian life.                               Acts 2:38 & Romans 8:10-14

We believe that the church is the body of Christ with Christ as our Head. Jesus is Lord over His church.                                                                                                                                                               Ephesians 4

We believe in the power of prayer. God hears our prayers and answers them.
                                                                             1 Timothy 2:8 & James 5:16

We believe in the Great Commission. We are to take the gospel to all of the world.
                                                                                             Matthew 28:18-20

Where the Bible speaks, we speak. Where the Bible is silent we are silent.

In matters of faith, unity; In matters of opinion, liberty; In all things love.
